Caleb Burnett is a sophomore Engineering student at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas, and has the opportunity and calling to participate in a mission trip during Summer 2024. His parents, Clay and Tammy Burnett, pastor Agape Fellowship in Benton, Arkansas and Caleb comes from a family tradition of ministry, notably having grandparents, uncles and cousins who have been ministers, evangelists, and church leaders for generations. He has grown up in church and it is gratifying to see him flourish in his relationship with God and to hear that he’s willing to answer a calling to grow in his ministry, truly something refreshing to hear amidst the turmoil, chaos, and confusion too often seen among young people today.
Below is Caleb’s testimony with some details about the trip and a request for prayer and financial support for his mission. If you feel led to contribute, information on how to do so is at the bottom of the page.
As you know, I am now a sophomore in college at Southern Arkansas University. I have chosen to pursue engineering as my field of study, and I am enjoying it a lot. I feel like God has placed me there for a reason, and I’m so thankful for the friends and the spiritual family that he has given me while I’ve been at SAU. Coming into college, I had little to no expectations to build my faith or to know Jesus more intimately, but I had no idea how much would get to know him and his love for me over the years.
About a year ago, I started going to a campus ministry called Chi Alpha and there I have met some of my closest and lifelong friends that God has placed in my life. I started to go to Chi Alpha’s retreats and just worshiping and learning about God has made me realize the care and the love that he has placed in my heart for people. I want to grow deeper with God and spread his love and word with people any chance that I can. When I learned I could go on a mission trip across, the seas called Project 222, I was intrigued. This year I feel that God has given me an eagerness and has opened doors for me to go and help build his kingdom. I am extremely enthusiastic about this mission trip and what God has in store for me.
Chi Alpha is a campus ministry whose name stands for “Christ Ambassadors”. Our goal is to love God and love others as God loves us. Chi Alpha also encourages people to live out the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” Project 222 aims to share the gospel with people worldwide who might not have access to it.
This year we will be going to Vanuatu, an island in the South Pacific. We will leave this summer on the 10th of May and come back on the 28th.I’m hoping that during this month, I’ll get share who Jesus is with people who don’t know him. I also want to help show the love of Jesus in any way I can
Since we are going overseas, the cost for this mission trip is $5000. To pay for this trip, we individually need to support raise the cost for us to go. I believe that God has called me to go on this mission trip and tell people about Jesus. I also believe that just as he has called me to go, he has called people to help send me. In Romans 10:15, it says, “And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And h ow can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'” I would like to ask you to help send me by joining my support team and kindly consider supporting me both with prayers and finances.
Thank you so much for opening my letter, taking the time to read this, and thinking of me. I would love to contact you through a phone call [this week] to follow up with you about my letter and any questions that you might have. Again, thanks so much!
